Fragile was created in 2000, and, since its birth, it quickly became a reference point in home and office furnishing, providing a large collection of design objects, the mostly part designed by important and famous artists such as Gio Ponti, Angelo Mangiarotti, Carlo Scarpa, Osvaldo Borsani, from the Fifties ‘till nowadays. In 2007, the impressive showroom in Via Rutilia 11, Milan, was opened. Apart from accommodating the enormous collection of lightings, seats, tables, furniture and design objects through which the company tries to satisfy even the most picky costumers’ requests, the showroom is also a perfect location for Events and Exhibitions.
Among the successful Events hosted in Via Rutilia, it needs to be mentioned the Exhibition exclusively dedicated to Franco Albini & Franca Helg works in April 2009.
Of some interest also the Erotic Design Exhibition, which took place in Winter 2008 and presented a large selection of objects and furnishing accessories linked by the leitmotif of body language, in all its various forms.
The exhibition “Nientedimeno/Nothingless” presented during Salone del Mobile 2011 and set in the charming Incoronata Library, embraced the most impressive female design production of the XXth Century. Prototypes and exquisite pieces, among the most recognizable design icons realized by female designers, highlighted an original point of view on the prismatic Italian XXth design History.
“Bracciodiferro exhibition - Gaetano Pesce, Alessandro Mendini 1971 - 1975”, curated by Anty Pansera and promoted by Fragile, presented extremely rare objects, which have never been previously exhibited together, manufactured between 1971 and 1975 and designed by an extraordinarily witty team leaded by Gaetano Pesce and Alessandro Mendini.
Fragile is essentially composed of two different-but-complementary souls: Fragile Novecento which is committed to the XXth Century design, and Fragile Edizioni, a new line of furnishing objects produced thanks to the cooperation with extraordinary artists such as Claudio Onorato and Claudio Salocchi. Both of these two souls are intended to help costumers in their search for the object that could satisfy their aesthetic and practical needs, assuring, in the meantime, the authenticity of a valuable and enduring investment.
